Ação é um gênero de videogames em que o sucesso na execução de uma tarefa depende da velocidade de reação do jogador e da capacidade de tomar decisões corretas rapidamente. A dinâmica desses jogos é alta, embora alguns permitam desacelerar o ritmo. Geralmente, esse gênero inclui jogos de luta, shooters, plataformas e alguns subgêneros de estratégia em tempo real. Nos jogos de ação, podem estar presentes elementos de exploração, corridas, quebra-cabeças e outros, mas a base sempre se constrói na coordenação visual-motora.
