Turn-based
Tipos de jogos em que todas as ações, ou ações durante as batalhas, ocorrem turno a turno, são chamados de turn-based. Em estratégias por turnos, geralmente todo o processo de jogo é dividido em turnos, enquanto em jogos de RPG – apenas a parte de combate. O turno pode não ter limite de tempo ou ser estabelecido em prazos rígidos. Em ambos os casos, os jogadores têm tempo para comparar tranquilamente todas as opções possíveis e fazer o melhor movimento. O resultado em jogos por turnos depende ainda mais das ações corretas do que dos parâmetros do exército ou do personagem.
