Final Fantasy IX

This fantasy role-playing game follows Zidane and the Tantalus Theater Troupe, who kidnap Princess Garnet, heir to Alexandria. Garnet wants to escape the castle, and she and her personal guard, Steiner, join Zidane on his journey. Along the way, the group meets Vivi and Quina, uncovers the secrets of the Crystal, and learns of a force threatening their world.

In turn-based battles, characters learn abilities from equipped items; once mastered, these abilities can be used without the items. Taking damage fills the characters’ Trance gauges, unlocking powerful skills when the gauges are full. Items and equipment can also be combined to create stronger gear. Optional diversions include Chocobo Hot and Cold, jump rope, and the Tetra Master card game, while the Active Time Event system adds story scenes.
