Minecraft: Java Edition Rewritten in Rust Gets a Gravity-Bending Orbital Laser Mod

Ludovic Marie rewrote Minecraft: Java Edition 26.3 in Rust to create Horizon, an unofficial project that needs a special fork to run the Orbital Laser mod by Stink-O. The mod adds five orbital attacks, including a Black Hole that bends light around a simulated singularity and tears blocks from the ground into orbit.

Horizon's systems are checked against the original game through 281 differential tests. The project contains no Minecraft code, assets, or data, so players need to provide their own legally obtained copy of Java Edition 26.3.

Stink-O released an update adding the Black Hole mode in version 0.3.0. The singularity opens 28 blocks above its target, and the effect traces view rays through its gravity to bend light, warping the landscape and sky behind it into an Einstein ring. Blocks spiral upward; most stretch, glow red-hot, and disappear at the event horizon.

The mod offers five attacks, selected from a wheel: Plasma, Godly, Black Hole, Meteor Storm, and Mothership. Meteor Storm sends 72 meteors before a final impact that leaves a crater about 125 blocks wide. The Mothership, added in version 0.5.0, can strike targets up to 1,000 blocks away and cuts a molten trench 100 blocks long.

Orbital Laser needs a special Horizon fork: the standard mod API cannot yet change the world or draw custom effects. The ready-built version is available only for Linux x86-64; Windows and macOS have not been tested.

Damage to the landscape is permanent, though the mod has a setting to turn terrain damage off. Which of Orbital Laser's five attacks would you try first, knowing its destruction can be irreversible?
