After the war against the Serpent King Orochi, heroes from the Three Kingdoms and the Warring States period find themselves in a new universe threatened by a colossal eight-headed Hydra. The monster defeats most of the warriors, leaving the survivors to join forces with the mysterious Kaguya and try to change the course of events.
The heroes travel back in time to rescue fallen allies and forge new alliances. Players fight as characters from a roster of more than 120 warriors, collect powerful weapons, and build an army to face the Hydra. New allies include the Dragon Ninja Ryu Hayabusa, Achilles, Jeanne d'Arc, Nemea, and Ayane.
