Undertow is a third-person sci-fi action shooter centered on battles between three races: Iron Marine, Nemoidian, and Atlantian. Its 15-level campaign can be played solo or cooperatively, while multiplayer modes support up to 16 players. Map objectives vary, but combat revolves around defeating enemies and staying alive.
Before battle, players choose a race and a unit type. Each race has four unit types, ranging from fast and agile to large and powerful. Points are earned by killing enemies, completing team objectives, and capturing checkpoints. They can be spent on permanent unit upgrades, while power-ups further improve unit abilities.
