This hunting action game takes place in a world displaced in time and space by the power of the Oni. A rookie Slayer joins the fight against the monsters threatening humanity, beginning in the village of Utakata, where veteran warriors such as the swordswoman Ouka guide the newcomer. Battles unfold in areas reflecting periods from ancient times to the early Shogunate.
Fighting large Oni involves more than ordinary attacks: Slayers must sever, pierce, and destroy parts of their bodies. Different weapons suit these tactics, and up to four players can join forces in co-op. Defeated Oni release Mitama, spirits of heroes from Japan’s past that can inhabit weapons and grant special abilities; collecting them is also part of progression.
