A turn-based space 4X strategy with real-time tactical space battles and turn-based ground combat. In StarDrive 2, the player rules a race and builds an empire in a procedurally generated galaxy inhabited by alien civilizations and pirates. Exploration and colonization of planets, moons, and asteroid fields go hand in hand with deep-space hazards and galactic mysteries.
Expanding an empire involves diplomacy and espionage, forging trade agreements with other races or entering conflicts with them. Research unlocks new technologies, while ship design lets the player build a fleet to defend their territory. Unique heroes can be hired to govern worlds or command fleets, and exploration brings encounters with anomalies and other heroes.
