Madden NFL 08 is an American football game focused on controlling teams on the field and managing a franchise off it. The Read & React system highlights players’ strengths and weaknesses, helping assess the opposing lineup and choose an approach before each play. During matches, players can control receivers and make catches, or defend by delivering hard hits and stripping the ball.
Front Office mode puts the player in charge of every aspect of a franchise, from building a stadium and setting concession prices to hiring coaches and drafting players. Raising the Madden Gamer Level allows a custom championship ring to be created and customized. On-field moves include pre-snap motion, backward passes, and low-hitting tackles.
