Lode Runner is an arcade platformer built around solo and cooperative levels, puzzles, and competitive modes. Players progress through Journey campaigns, survive Hang On challenges, or compete against three others in Last Man, where sabotage and returning to the game as an enemy are part of the rules.
Five worlds feature distinctive enemies and terrain, including avalanche blocks, stalactites, and teleports. Blocks can be blasted with bombs, while energy balls grant extra lives. A level editor supports custom stages for different modes and environments, which can also be shared with the community.
