Plataforma
Um dos gêneros mais antigos dos videogames — o platformer — se destaca por seu processo de jogo especial. O jogador controla um personagem que se move pelo nível, salta entre "plataformas", escala escadas, coleta itens e luta contra inimigos. A inteligência dos oponentes geralmente é fraca ou inexistente. Alguns platformers são voltados para velocidade e reação, outros se assemelham mais a quebra-cabeças, e outros exigem do jogador a combinação correta de movimentos para superar obstáculos. A diversidade de gêneros dos platformers é muito ampla.
