This turn-based role-playing game is set in a fantasy world of open landscapes and sprawling dungeons, where the protagonist seeks to uncover the mystery of their identity. The world is built from tiles, and every action is resolved through calculations or chance; combat unfolds in turns and can proceed at the player’s chosen pace.
Eschalon: Book I lets players explore its nonlinear world and follow the main storyline or venture beyond it. Character development depends on managing attributes, choosing from 24 skills, selecting equipment, and using magic. The journey brings encounters with creatures and a variety of items and treasures, some of which are randomly generated.
