How to Fix AION 2 Crashes, Launch Errors, and Connection Issues

Conteúdo

Black screens, crashes after the intro, various error messages, and endless connection attempts can prevent you from playing AION 2 even on a powerful PC. In this guide, we'll cover launch problems with Steam and PURPLE, Unreal Engine crashes, account-linking errors, server connection issues, and practical fixes for the known technical problems.

What to Check First

Start by identifying exactly where the game fails. Does it close after you press Play, display an error code, or launch normally and then return you to the login screen? These are different problems, so reinstalling the entire game after every failed attempt is usually unnecessary. Save the error text or take a screenshot. Even a short numerical code after the error name can point you directly to the correct solution.

This guide covers the Global PC version of AION 2 for Windows, launched through Steam or PURPLE. Access is restricted in some regions. If the game is unavailable from your location, updating your graphics driver or changing graphics settings will not fix the issue. You can check the current restrictions on the AION 2 availability page.

We also recommend comparing your PC with the AION 2 system requirements. The minimum configuration lists 64-bit Windows 10/11, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 470/570 with 4 GB of VRAM, DirectX 12, and 100 GB of free storage. On a system close to the minimum requirements, start with the lowest graphics preset. The recommended configuration does not mean you should immediately set every option to maximum.

AION 2 Won't Launch After Clicking Play

If the Play button briefly changes to Stop and then resets, open Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc and check whether Aion2.exe is still running. If the process remains active, end it, fully close the launcher, and start it again. Sometimes the process refuses to close or the game has already frozen several times during startup. In that case, restart the PC.

The next step is to verify the game files. In Steam, open Library, right-click AION 2, and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Wait for the scan to finish. Steam will redownload any missing or damaged files. Then try launching the game normally from your Library.

While testing, fully close MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner Statistics Server, and other applications that display monitoring data over the game. Disable the Discord, Steam, and NVIDIA overlays if they are enabled. You do not need to uninstall anything for the first test. Start by exiting these applications completely. If the game launches, re-enable them one at a time to find which one causes the problem to return.

Error 1138:100134 When Launching Through Steam

The message Failed to reset Steam account linking. Please check Steam's status and restart the game is related to Steam account-link processing. In this case, try launching Steam with administrator privileges. Open the Steam menu and select Exit, then find Steam through Windows Search, right-click it, and choose Run as administrator. Sign in and launch AION 2 from your Library.

If the code still appears, contact NC Support and attach a screenshot. You do not need to create a new account or unlink the old one. Avoid experimenting with account links if you already have a character because existing progress cannot be transferred to another NC Account.

NCGUARD Closes the Game: How to Fix Block Codes

If NCGUARD closes the game, make sure you record the exact Block Code, such as Aion2.exe — 0xE0000027. Click Save to save the log before closing the message. A launch Block Code and an account restriction are different things, so seeing this window does not automatically mean your account has been banned. You can find additional codes in the official NCGUARD error table.

0xE0000013 — Incorrect Launch Method

Return to the normal launch method through Steam or PURPLE. If you were opening Aion2.exe directly, using a separate shortcut to the executable, or starting the game through a third-party launcher, stop using that method. Close any remaining AION 2 process and launch the game with the Play button in the official launcher. If the error still appears, send the saved log to Support.

0xE0000015 — Game Process Still Running or Too Many Clients Open

Open Task Manager and end every Aion2.exe process. This message can also appear after a crash when the game window is already gone but the process remains active in the background. Once everything is closed, launch a single client. If you are not sure all processes have stopped, restart the PC.

0xE0000027 — Conflict With Another Program

Start by closing third-party overlays, hardware monitoring software, and PC tuning utilities. Also check macro applications, trainers, and memory editors because they can interfere with the protection module. Restart the PC, then launch only the official launcher and AION 2. If the error disappears, re-enable your applications one at a time until you identify the conflict.

ASUS Armoury Crate and the Aura Sync lighting service are also worth checking. Some players have reported crashes that stopped after disabling this service. Press Win+R, enter msconfig, open the Services tab, and enable Hide all Microsoft services. Find the ASUS Aura Sync service, clear only its checkbox, apply the change, and restart the PC. If this does not change anything, enable the service again.

Some players also report that uninstalling Cheat Engine or WeMod fixed the problem, but we would not treat this as a universal solution. It is something to test if simply closing background applications does not help. There is little value in randomly uninstalling every RGB utility, recording app, or mouse configuration program on your system.

0xFA000001 and 0xFA000002 — Launch Timed Out

First, close resource-heavy applications and pause background downloads, then try launching the game again. These codes can also involve antivirus interference. Check your protection history to see whether any AION 2 files were blocked. If antivirus software is preventing initialization, add a specific exclusion for the installed game through your antivirus settings. Adding the entire game folder is generally more practical than excluding individual files.

Open Windows Security and go to Virus & threat protection > Manage settings > Exclusions. You do not need to disable antivirus protection completely. The same approach can be tested for initialization errors such as 0xFA000101, 0xFA000102, 0xFA000104, and 0xE0000028. Check other codes against the official table before applying unrelated fixes.

0xFA000103 — Required Library Is Missing

This error usually means that a DLL required to start the game is missing. For example, if the error mentions VCRUNTIME140.dll or MSVCP140.dll, install or repair the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and choose the x64 package. If the installer offers a Repair option, use it, restart the PC, and try launching the game again.

A different DLL may require a different fix, so do not download random libraries one by one. Windows and DirectX components should be updated through Windows Update, while damaged game components should be restored by verifying the game files. Do not download individual DLL files from third-party websites or manually copy them into Windows system folders.

0xE0000017 — Remote Desktop Launch

This error appears when the game is launched through Remote Desktop. Start AION 2 directly on the PC instead of through a Windows Remote Desktop session. Reinstalling the game is not necessary for this code.

AION 2 Crashes With Fatal Error, LowLevelFatalError, or GPU Crash Dump

The message The UE-Aion2 Game has crashed and will close indicates an Unreal Engine crash, but it does not identify the cause by itself. Start by verifying the game files, closing overlays, and updating your graphics driver. If you changed GPU or CPU clock speeds or voltages, return them to known stable values. After each change, test the same area where the game previously crashed.

For NVIDIA, install the appropriate Game Ready Driver for your GPU. For AMD, use the current Adrenalin driver. Download drivers from the hardware manufacturer's website or official application. For Radeon RX 9000 cards, the AION 2 compatibility guidance specifically references Adrenalin 26.9.1. Treat this as a specific compatibility version to test, not a guarantee that it fixes every crash.

If the game reaches the menu, lower the graphics quality and cap the frame rate, then repeat the section that previously caused a crash. If the problem only happens with frame generation enabled, test the game with frame generation disabled, including any per-game settings in your graphics driver application. Avoid changing a dozen settings at once because you will not know which change actually helped, and the crash may return when you restore your preferred graphics settings.

Crashes on NVIDIA GPUs

Open NVIDIA Control Panel and go to Set up G-SYNC. Clear Enable G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible, apply the change, and restart the game. If the crashes stop, leave G-SYNC disabled while playing. If nothing changes, restore the original setting and continue troubleshooting.

Crashes on Desktop Intel 13th- and 14th-Gen CPUs

For these desktop processors, check your motherboard manufacturer's website for a stable BIOS update. Such updates may include stability fixes and newer Intel microcode. Download a BIOS only for your exact motherboard model and revision, and follow the manufacturer's instructions. This advice does not apply to every laptop or to AMD-based systems.

PresentInternal(SyncInterval) Failed Error

There is a separate fix for this error: recreate the user settings folder. Fully close the game, then open its Steam Properties and temporarily disable Steam Cloud on the General tab so the old settings are not restored from the cloud. If you use PURPLE, skip this step.

Press Win+R and open the path that matches your launcher:

  • Steam: %localappdata%\AION2\Saved_Steam\PersistentDownloadDir
  • PURPLE: %localappdata%\AION2\Saved\PersistentDownloadDir

Find the UserSetting folder, copy it somewhere else as a backup, then delete the original folder and launch the game. You will probably need to configure your graphics settings again. Do not delete the entire AION2, Saved, or PersistentDownloadDir directory. This fix specifically targets UserSetting. If that folder does not exist at the path above, check which launcher you are using before searching for similarly named folders elsewhere.

Black Screen When Launching AION 2

If you can hear the game audio but see no image, the most effective first test is Alt+Enter to switch display modes. If the image appears, open the settings, select Borderless Windowed mode, and set the resolution to match your monitor. Then restart the game. On a multi-monitor setup, you can also test with only the primary display enabled to determine whether the issue is related to video output.

A black screen followed by the game closing should instead be treated as a crash. Verify the files, close overlays, and check the graphics driver. If you see a PresentInternal error, use the dedicated section above. We do not recommend adding -dx11 at random. The Global version lists DirectX 12, and there is no confirmed universal fix that comes from forcing DX11. Remove experimental launch parameters you added earlier and test a normal launch first.

Out of Memory Error: How to Fix It

An Out of Memory error means AION 2 cannot access enough memory. First, determine which type of memory the message is referring to. If it mentions VRAM, reduce texture quality and resolution if the game lets you reach the settings menu. If the problem is system RAM, close browsers with many open tabs and other memory-heavy applications. AION 2 recommends 16 GB of RAM.

Also check whether the Windows paging file is enabled. Press Win+R, enter sysdm.cpl, then open Advanced > Performance > Settings. In the new window, open Advanced > Virtual memory > Change and enable Automatically manage paging file size for all drives. Apply the setting and restart the PC.

You do not need to manually set the paging file to a fixed value such as one and a half times your RAM on every PC. The amount Windows needs depends on the workload, so automatic management is the best first test. If the error refers to VRAM, however, changing the paging file will not help because it does not add video memory to your GPU.

Unable to Connect to Game Server and Return to Login Screen

If the client starts but displays Unable to connect to game server. Moving to login screen, first check the latest AION 2 announcements. During maintenance, logging in is usually unavailable, and players already online may be disconnected. If many players are reporting problems with the same server, wait for an official recovery notice. Reinstalling the client will not make maintenance end any faster.

The error sometimes appears with code C:213840, but the number alone is not enough to tell whether the issue is server-side or related to your connection. As a test, try another available server without deleting your character or requesting a transfer. If another server works normally, return to the announcements for the original server.

If the same problem occurs on every server, restart your router and test a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi. Another useful test is to briefly connect the PC through your phone's hotspot. If the game works through the hotspot but not through your home connection, focus further troubleshooting on the router, ISP, and network route.

How to Check Time, DNS, and Network Settings

Incorrect date and time settings can interfere with authentication. Open Settings > Time & language > Date & time, verify your time zone, enable automatic time setting, and select Sync now. If you use a VPN or manually configured proxy, test the game without it. There is no need to change your account country because of an ordinary connection timeout.

To clear the DNS cache, open Command Prompt as administrator and run ipconfig /flushdns. Then restart the launcher. If the problem remains, you can test another DNS server separately. Press Win+R, enter ncpa.cpl, open the properties of your active connection, then open Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Enter 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, making a note of your previous settings before replacing them.

If changing DNS does not help, restore the previous values or return to automatic DNS assignment. DNS by itself does not reduce your physical distance from the server or fix overloaded game infrastructure. There is no reason at this stage to disable IPv6, reset the entire Windows network stack, or pay for a network accelerator. Testing another network gives you a much clearer result.

Character Missing After Switching Between Steam and PURPLE

First, check the region and server. An empty character list in a different world does not necessarily mean your character is gone. Then make sure you signed in using the same method you originally used. If you started through Steam, select Steam when signing in through PURPLE and authenticate with the same Steam account. You do not need to create a new character.

If you originally started with an NC Account, Steam must be linked to that same account. Linking Steam to another NC Account does not transfer your existing progress. If the link has already been changed, use the official account-link recovery instructions or contact Support.

Account Locked or Temporary Security Lock Appears

A Temporary Security Lock may be applied after a suspicious login from a device or connection. This does not necessarily mean the account has been permanently banned, but the issue must be handled through Support. Open the AION 2 Support Center, sign in to the affected account, and submit a request to restore access. Describe the situation in detail.

A rules violation restriction normally displays a message explaining the action. If the message says your account was restricted for violating the rules and you believe the action was incorrect, submit an appeal for review. Do not confuse this with an NCGUARD window containing a technical Block Code and log. For Support, the important details are the exact restriction message, when it appeared, and the account on which it occurred.

What to Do If Nothing Helped

If none of the solutions in this guide work, contact Support. Gather the error details and specify whether you use Steam or PURPLE, your Windows version, CPU, GPU, and graphics driver version. Describe exactly when the failure occurs, such as after the logo, during character selection, while entering the world, or when loading a dungeon. Include the log saved with the Save button for NCGUARD issues, plus the full error text or a screenshot. If you cannot connect to a server, include your country, ISP, and the approximate time the problem started. Explain whether the result changes on another network and list the fixes you have already tried. This gives Support the information it needs to begin investigating the problem.
