Bloomberg published a large article by Jason Schreier about the situation inside the gaming division of Warner Bros. According to rumors, Wonder Woman from Monolith Productions has been rebooted, and Rocksteady intends to return to its roots.

Last year was a real failure for Warner Bros. Games. The frankly unsuccessful Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League deprived the company of 200 million dollars, and poor sales of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions and the closure of the fighting game MultiVersus took away another 100 million.

In early January, Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. announced the resignation of the head of the gaming division, David Haddad. As Jason Schreier writes, no one in the controlled studios was surprised by the reshuffle — under his leadership, game development turned into a pursuit of trends. For example, the promising Wonder Woman from the creators of Middle-earth: Shadow of War got stuck in "production hell" and was relaunched in early 2024, as the journalist's contacts revealed. The game has already cost more than $100 million and there is a risk that the project will not hit the market for many years.

Meanwhile, Rocksteady is considering several games at once to save its reputation after the failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The studio is also looking at new single-player game about Batman. However, if development does begin, the game will only be released in a few years.

Recall that a rumor recently appeared about the development of a remake of Batman: Arkham Asylum. In December, it was also reported that Warner Bros. fired dozens of developers of the action game based on Suicide Squad.
